junior engineer

The City and County of San Francisco anticipates frequent openings for entry-level engineering positions. Junior Engineer positions provide many rewarding opportunities in diverse operating departments including Airport, Building Inspection, Municipal Transportation, Port, Public Utilities, Public Works, and Recreation and Parks.

The City offers an engineering progression series that supports rapid promotional opportunities through the professional Engineering levels. Junior Engineers hired at the entry-level step will receive a 5% step increase in pay after six months of service. After one year of satisfactory service and attainment of the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate, a Junior Engineer may be promoted to an Assistant Engineer. There are subsequent opportunities for promotion to mid-level and upper-level engineering management positions as the City maintains six levels of professional engineering classes.

In addition to competitive salaries, the City and County of San Francisco offers exceptional benefit plans that include a choice of several comprehensive health and dental plans; vision care plan; flexible spending accounts; retirement plan and deferred compensation program; tuition reimbursement; employee credit union membership; and eleven paid holidays. Four (4) floating paid holidays are offered after six (6) months of service, ten (10) paid vacation days and thirteen (13) paid sick leave days are offered after one (1) year of service.
